I've been informed now that URL means my email address, so I'll herewith try the third option.Frank van Halsemahttp://fvanhalsema@earthlink.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34563578.post-40704013367879035782010-11-15T06:09:59.122-05:002010-11-15T06:09:59.122-05:00Anonymous,

In this csse, I think they stumbled off the line on to the dumbing down side.

AllenAllenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04082981127553205332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34563578.post-36941717760295661092010-11-14T20:59:40.967-05:002010-11-14T20:59:40.967-05:00Did the revisers of 1979 appreciate the source of ...Did the revisers of 1979 appreciate the source of "by patience and comfort of the Scriptures" in Romans 15:4, and the significance of the Greek HYPOMONE not just in Romans but in all the Pauline epistles? The "hear them" implies a much more public, live relationship to the venerable texts aspect of religion.

How could they refer to anything in the Bible as "least edifying"? And wouldn't this just point the people who most need edifying (like, well, me) to all the "naughty" bits? They're explicit about the Apocalypse being off piste, but in that case, where are the direct pointers to the corrupting bits of the OT?Choppahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04980510007443012482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34563578.post-56822601744249856642007-11-20T19:55:00.000-05:002007-11-20T19:55:00.000-05:00Allen, I say the short form of Morning and Evening...Allen, I say the short form of Morning and Evening Prayer from the BCP, and I read the Scriptures from the Daily Office nearly every day. It's not much, but even that little is quite profitable for me.

I love that many of us around the world read the same words each day.

Tobias' sermons are wonderful, aren't they?
